02 - 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
03 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
04 - ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

07 - 2 tablespoons melted butter

→ Cinnamon Sugar Coating

08 - ¼ cup granulated sugar
09 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

# How-to:

01 - Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced apples, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook, stirring frequently, for 4 to 5 minutes until apples are tender and the mixture becomes syrupy. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
03 - Lay out the flour tortillas and evenly spoon the apple filling along one edge of each.
04 - Roll each tortilla tightly around the filling and place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
05 - Brush the tops of the roll-ups with melted butter. In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon, then sprinkle the mixture generously over the roll-ups.
06 - Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until the roll-ups are golden and crisp.
07 - Allow the roll-ups to cool slightly before serving. They are best enjoyed warm, optionally paired with vanilla ice cream or caramel sauce.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • You get all the warm spiced apple pie comfort in half the time with way less effort
  • The tortillas crisp up beautifully creating this golden shell that holds everything together
02 -
  • Do not skip cooking the apples first because raw apples will release too much water and make the tortillas soggy
  • Let the apple filling cool slightly before rolling so the tortillas do not tear or get too soft to handle
03 -
  • Use room temperature tortillas to prevent cracking when rolling
  • Place rolled tortillas seam side down close together on the baking sheet to help them hold their shape
